A year or so ago, there was another plane crash in Russia where the airliner just went straight in on landing. Do you remember that one? I can’t recall the details, but the cctv footage is eerily similar.

Just heard the airplane made at least one go-around before the crash... initial wild guess would be pilots forgot to keep track of the flaps.

Hard to say. Video looks like it came in at a steep angle, but it is poor quality. Situational awareness could have been a factor with weather in the area. All speculation though.
